Weekend Reading + Happy Things 07.17.20

Happy Friday and weekend everyone! Hope you guys are doing well! I didn’t end up doing a “Weekend Reading” post last Friday because I was in bit of a rut. I took a few days off to think about how I can make these Friday posts a bit more fun and personal. I came to the conclusion that going forward, in addition to the weekend links, I will be including random little things that made me happy that week. They could be anything from random coffee shops runs, take-out food we ordered, online sales, recent purchases, books, TV shows or recipes that we’re really keen on trying! Pretty much anything that kept our spirits high 🙂

I don’t know about you but I like to stay in the know of all the new book releases. Here are the best new books for this week!

Check out all these breezy summer dresses

20 covered patios you can visit in Toronto, even if its raining!

If you have really bad period pains, this is a good read. Also, if you’re not already tracking your period, do it! I use P Tracker on the App Store

I know these weekly posts are supposed to be happy and uplifting but I had to share this article about one of my favourite crepe cafes in the city that just closed! Apparently they have other locations in Vancouver and Hong Kong (LKF)

This put a smile on my face. From potentially graduating from Ryerson with no job to signing with the same agency as Beyonce!

Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Que Ling – We recently discovered our favourite hole in the wall pho restaurant is open again and we cannot get enough of their pho! They are located in east China Town and are currently available for pick up.

Babysitters Club on Netflix – You guys! I’ve binged this show pretty hard this week. I never read any of the Babysitter Club books back in the day but this story line has been refreshed to be relevant to our times. At one point in the show, the girls discussed using an Instagram platform to raise awareness about the club. This show is a great background show and it’s super cute and heartwarming.

Biking – I’ve been oddly obsessed with biking lately. I haven’t biked much in the last 10-15 years – maybe only a total of 3 times in recent memory. I never really had much interest in it and I definitely did not feel comfortable biking in the Downtown core. I randomly decided to give it a try again recently and last weekend, Eden and I biked from the Distillery District all the way to Humber River!!! That is approximately 11KM each way! It felt completely safe riding on the bike lanes along Queen’s Quay and on Lakeshore Blvd (which is closed on weekends for COVID-19 ActiveTO). As someone who hasn’t biked in such a long time and never at that distance, it felt like a HUGE accomplishment for me. Now I’ve caught the bug and I’m hooked on biking. Since I’ve taken up a huge interest in biking, Eden’s been upgrading random parts on my bike to make it a more comfortable ride.

Grace Atwood’s Amazon The Drop collection – This was probably the highlight of the week. I’ve been patiently waiting for these two dresses that I ordered from Grace’s Amazon The Drop collection about a month ago. They FINALLY arrived in the mail this week! I will do a blog post soon about how the Amazon Drop collection works!

That’s it from me! Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Feel free to also follow along my Instagram page where I update daily with what I’m up to!

You look great with that dress you’re wearing in this post. Also that photo of the pho from Que Ling makes me wish that my favorite Asian restaurant is open for dine-in. Hopefully that will happen soon.
