Italian night at Francobollo in North York!

Although Francobollo may be slightly tucked away in North York, this fine dining Italian restaurant is definitely a go-to spot for many locals. We couldn’t help but notice the familiar faces to the wait staff that kept filling the restaurant throughout the course of our dinner.

Francobollo, which opened its doors back in December 2014, is a modern, casual neighbourhood restaurant that distinguishes itself from others with warmth and sincerity, present in all elements of the dining experience. Francobollo is from the creators of Terra, Rusty’s and Sarpa Restaurants.

The decor of Francobollo is an amazing one. Yes, a little bit more upscale but an amazing one. The second I walked in, it instantly reminded me of a place where you’d take your girlfriend(s) / mother for a relaxing afternoon tea.
My friend and I trekked over to North York to visit Francobollo on a Thursday evening. I was surprised to see daily specials that were customized for the particular day. I don’t feel that a lot of restaurants do that anymore so that was a nice touch. The plates were delivered at a leisurely pace, it was a busy for a Thursday evening. I ordered the seared halibut cakes to start and really enjoyed the piping hot crispy texture paired with the spicy tomato ragu. For my main, I opted for the Casarecce Bolgnese. I enjoyed my pasta – it’s not an everyday type of pasta you’d see on a menu. My friend on the other hand, thought the risotto in her venison chop had a little bit too much sauce for her liking.
