Create your Taste @ McDonald’s

McDonald’s (McD_Canada) – the world’s largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants serving 68 million customers daily is my ultimate guilty pleasure. The type of happy food that I will resort to when I’m having a stressful day at work and will no doubt cheer me up! – Or maybe just the perfect midnight snack for some of us!  Any who, a few weeks ago, I was invited to a secret McDonald’s location to attend the launch of “Create Your Taste”

So what exactly happened?  Well McDonald’s arranged for a car to pick us up and drove us to a special McDonald’s location. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and a few kiosk self serve stands that I’ve never seen before. IT’s FINALLY HERE! McDonald’s is now enabling guests to build your own burger in 5 simple steps! It is expected that all McDonald’s location across Canada will have these self serve kiosk by the end of 2016!

You go up to a self serve kiosk and can customize your own burger (or simply order your usually favourites at the machine without having to speak to anyone). Once you’re finished designing your own burger you will have to pay for the item at the machine as well. If you’re customizing your burger – they charge you for each ingredient you add to your burger. Some items being more cheaper than others – depending on what you order.

Once the payment has been completed, you pick up a number at the machine and take a seat. One of the staff brings the burger over to your table.

What a lovely surprise to see that the meals are now served on a (cutting) board, while the fries are in a cute little metal tray!
Meals were delivered to us by friendly wait staff that periodically checked up on us to see if we needed additional cutlery or refills.

The future of quick service restaurants, it will be interesting to see how this self-serve kiosk trend will look at other restaurants in the near future! https://www.gabhospitalitygroup.com
