Apricot Tree Cafe

Apricot Tree Cafe located near Dundas & Mississauga Road in the Sherwood Forest Village offers a wide range of goodies – sandwiches, wraps, crepes, pastas, cakes, ice cream and a lot of other desserts. I’m always in a dire need to go back to Apricot Tree Cafe for their delicious desserts. Well, specifically their Creme Caramel – which NEVER disappoints. 

Over the years, I had never bothered to stay for a sit down dinner here. Rather I would just buy my Creme Caramel for take out and leave. But for whatever reason, I decided to stay for dinner. Here’s the exterior look of the cafe:

Mango Tango Smoothie ($4.50)

• the mango smoothie was very cold and refreshing – you could actually taste the mangos
• some smoothies tend to be a bit icy (chunks of small ice) – but this wasn’t the case at all

French Onion Soup ($4.95)

• absolutely loved the soup – very hearty and rich
•  thick layer of melted baked cheese with lots of onions and beef broth – they certainly didn’t cheap out on ingredients
• probably one of the best french onion soup I ever had!

Seafood Pasta ($14.75)

• Linguini pasta, sea scallops, shrimps, mussels, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach, artichokes, fresh basil, garlic and olive oil
• I wasn’t very fond of the pasta – it was bland and dry – perhaps a little cold

Chicken Tarragon Pasta ($12.75)

• Fettuccine pasta, slices of chicken breast, mushrooms and broccoli in a creamy tarragon sauce
• My friend ordered this pasta – he didn’t seem to enjoy this either

Creme Brulee ($6.50)

• Served with a fruit medley – I’m guessing they have different creme brulees’ each day of the week so you have to ask your server for daily specials
• Maybe my expectations were really high, but I was rather disappointed
• The texture of the custard wasn’t very pleasing – actually somewhat chunky
• And after taking a few bites of the creme brulee, I found water beneath all the custard =S

All in all, I do think Apricot Tree Cafe has some awesome foods. Maybe I was just unlucky that day. But anyhow, I’m still going to return for my creme caramel, french onion soup and maybe some baked mussels? =D
